The Kardashians has entered its sixth season this week on Hulu. Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, Kendall, Kylie, and their mom, Kris Jenner, are back with the drama, and there's going to be lots of it. As well as the love, triumphs, and turbulences that this media mogul family has graced our screens for nearly twenty years.

For the most part, The Kardashians' content is primarily tame. However, as this is a reality show, there will be moments when the subject matter is mature and uncomfortable for viewers. On the positive side, fans will be temporarily transported into the family's luxurious lifestyle and personal situations.

Like its predecessor, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, The Kardashians holds a TV-14 rating. But why was it assigned this certification, and what things should you be aware of so that it could be appropriate for your kids or the younger viewers?

Explaining The Kardashians' TV-14 rating

Reality shows often carry the TV-14 rating, especially if they're on a streamer or a cable channel. This is because so they can write in more explicit material, or in The Kardashians' case, film it.

Sex & nudity: Viewers shouldn't have to worry too much about the physical aspect, but the sisters and Kris do love talking about it from time to time, but not in an inappropriate way. There were some brief wardrobe issues in season 6's first episode, but they've been corrected, and nothing was shown. The women tend to dress a little bit on the "sexy side" in terms of tops, but nothing is revealed.

Language: There will be some course language and profanity throughout, which isn't new for The Kardashians. Words such as the "S" word, crap, damn, and hell will be spoken by the cast members. Stronger words, such as the F-bomb, are bleeped out.

Expect the profanity to remain consistent throughout the season, and personal family issues.

Violence & gore: There is none.

Alcohol and drug use: The sisters and Kris do enjoy a drink socially or when they're together, but there's no binging or overdoing it. Kendall and Kylie both own liquor companies, and they'll be doing promotional events for their brands.

As for the drugs, there's nothing to worry about in that respect. However, Khloé did open up about how her ex-husband Lamar Odom's previous drug use affected her emotionally. When watching material such as this, it's important to discuss the dangers of overdoses and how drugs can harm.

Overall verdict: What age is The Kardashians' appropriate for?

Having watched nearly every episode of the Kardashian reality franchise, including The Kardashians, I'd put a safe age range of 13-14 years old. There's material that won't be suitable for anyone younger unless it's the children's birthday parties or the camera is focused on them.

But it's entirely up to the parents to decide whether they want their kids to watch The Kardashians since the moments can get raw.

The Kardashians streams Thursdays on Hulu.
