3 shows and movies with robots for the kids after watching The Wild Robot
The Wild Robot is the most recent animated release for the whole family. It’s a story of empathy, respect, and choosing your own destiny.
Once you’ve watched this movie, you’ll want to find others similar to it for children. There are some great stories that involve robots, and we’re taking a look at three shows and movies. Not all the robots are the good guys on this list!
Robots
Why not start with the animated movie called Robots? In this world, sentient robots rule the world and the whole creation of the series is ingenious. We follow Rodney Copperbottom, who is a striving young inventor who heads out to Bigweld Industries to create parts that would make the world a better place for robots around the world.
However, Bigweld has been deposed. Now Phineas T. Rachet has taken over, and he will do everything he can to force robots to get upgrades, regardless of whether they have the money or not. Rodney needs to team up with others to bring down Ratchet and put Bigweld back in power.
It’s a great story of corporate greed and fighting against it. The latest upgrade isn’t always the best thing.
WALL-E
I will say that some of this movie is questionable. I still dislike the way WALL-E forces EVE around the world when she shuts down after doing her job. However, WALL-E is a robot that is learning, and this gives children a chance to learn about consent.
Overall, the movie is a good one for kids to watch. We get to see this robot who develops a “glitch” and starts to develop empathy and curiosity. It’s because of this that he’s able to help save the human race, who have become so reliant on technology that they have become overweight and lazy. There are lessons in doing things for ourselves and not allowing our curiosity to be overshadowed by everyday tasks.
Doctor Who
I said that not all robots were going to be the good guys. Doctor Who has a variety of creatures and monsters, and one of those is the robots known as the Cybermen.
Overall, this series is a fun ride for the whole family. We get stories of people saving the world, learning when death isn’t the right action, and of acceptance and love. Even the bad guys can realize that they’re doing the wrong thing, and there are even cases of Cybermen changing or overcoming their programming.
