There’s no doubt that the Dr. Seuss books remain family favorites. They’re not the easiest to turn into movies, though, but there’s another one getting the feature film treatment. Get ready for Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
Variety confirms that the latest book will be getting the feature film treatment, but there is a wait for it. It will arrive in theaters on March 17, 2028.
Wow! That is a long wait! I wouldn’t let the kids know about the release just yet. They’ll look forward to Sonic the Hedgehog 4 first, which is coming out a year earlier. Once that one is over, then you’ll want to get them ready for the latest animated feature.
John M. Chu and Jill Culton will direct the movie, with Rob Lieber writing the screenplay. This is going to be with Warner Bros., and it is a high-priority production.
There will be plenty of original songs for the movie, which is expected with a Dr. Seuss film. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are writing all the original songs.
What is Oh, the Places You’ll Go! about?
The book was the last of Dr. Seuss’ masterpieces published during his lifetime, so it certainly has a special place in many hearts. It sends readers on another magical and crazy adventure.
The magic of this book is that the main character is just a young boy named “You.” This is something that allows many readers to put themselves in the book, imagining themselves on the adventure. You goes on an adventure around various landscapes and places, ending up in “The Waiting Place.”
There is a lesson to be learned in the reading. Everyone ends up in “The Waiting Place,” as they’re always waiting for something more to happen. Isn’t that the case? Even in life as adults, we’re waiting for the next best thing. And so, the protagonist ends up on more adventures. The open ending makes for some exciting stories to be had for children and adults of all ages.
Oh, the Places You’ll Go will come to theaters (and IMAX) on March 17, 2028.
