Moana 2 has brought us another spectacular adventure that is great for the whole family. Of course, you can watch the first movie as well, but there are many other movies out there that bring a similar sense of adventure and meaning.

The second Moana movie reunites Moana and Maui. We also see an adventure with other friends, as Moana fights to protect not just her land but her people as a whole. It’s a story of selflessness, bravery, and honor.

You want some similar experiences through other movies for the kids. Here are three movies your kids need to watch next.

Mulan

Let’s go back to the 1990s classic Mulan. This movie is another one of selflessness and honor. When the Emperor calls on every family to give them one man to fight for the Imperial Army, Mulan realizes that it’s a death sentence for her father. So, she decides to pretend to be a man and take her father’s place.

It’s going to bring dishonor to the family if she’s caught, but she needs to save her father’s life and still honor the law of the land. Along the way, she proves that with determination and brains, anything can be achieved. Oh, and teamwork is also a must!

Luca

If you want something that takes place in the ocean, Luca is the movie to turn to. This is a beautiful coming-of-age story about finding a place in the world. Luca has always spent his life in the ocean, but he and his friend Alberto end up in the Italian Riviera disguised as humans. They have to get used to a world that is different from anything they’ve ever known.

There’s certainly an adventure to be had. This is also a story about experiencing life, figuring out how to fit in—and whether it’s always worth it—and of freedom.

Luca is available to stream on Disney+.

Lilo and Stitch

With Stitch becoming so popular among children, it’s time to put on Lilo and Stitch the movie. This is a wonderful adventure, that also brings important life lessons. It’s also Hawaiian based, which is great for those who want more of a Moana feel.

The story brings a tale of an unlikely friendship. Stitch is an alien who crash lands on earth in Hawaii. He meets Lilo, and independent young girl who is willing to accept Stitch for who he is and learn from him. This is a story of how two cultures can come together and learn from each other.
