Whether you're headed out for this July 4 weekend or staying in town, one activity you can do with the family, other than a flashy fireworks show, is head to the theater to catch one of the latest movies. The holiday celebrating the birth of our nation is a major Box Office success during the weekend, thanks to the releases that will be guaranteed hits.
One of the best parts of seeing a movie in a theater is experiencing the graphics on the Big Screen, along with the feeling of being inside the piece and absorbing the action or the emotions embedded in it. There's also a broad choice of genres and fandoms, so we're sure that whatever you select, the movie will satisfy everyone.
Jurassic World Rebirth
Jurassic World Rebirth is the next chapter in the Jurassic Park franchise. It follows a group of medical researchers as they hunt for a cure that could save the human race. It's not without its challenges, though, as they have to travel to one of the most dangerous places on earth and meet face-to-face with the largest creatures (dinosaurs) to ever exist.
What's cool about Rebirth is that it loops back to the first film from 1993, and connects full circle. For those who grew up with the Spielberg masterpiece, they'll appreciate the nostalgic trip back in time.
Lilo and Stitch
The live-action remake of the 2002 2D animation film Lilo and Stitch has the same premise as its predecessor, and like Rebirth, it was another walk down memory lane for its older fans. If you're unfamiliar with the storyline, it follows a young girl and her mischievous "dog" as they embark on a journey of love, family, and companionship, despite the fact that Stitch is an alien impersonating a dog to fool the authorities.
Lilo and Stitch additionally offers gorgeous views of the Hawaiian landscape and some dry humor for the adult Disney fans.
How to Train Your Dragon
Another live-action film is How to Train Your Dragon, which explores the bond between a Viking boy, Hiccup, and his dragon, whom he names Toothless. Through their relationship and the time they spend together, Hiccup develops a deeper understanding of the dragon species. The creatures, though large and intimidating in appearance, aren't threatening or dangerous, and they only want to survive. However, the only perilous threat is the Vikings, and so, it proves yet again that humanity can be destructive.
How to Train Your Dragon is a perfect alternative for children who are way too young to watch Game of Thrones and its prequel, House of the Dragon. The young audience and adults will be further introduced to Viking lore and its legends.
