The latest of Disney’s live-action reboots is here, and it’s not one to skip. Lilo & Stitch is one of those that many were likely worried about being botched, but it’s a lot of fun for the entire family. And yes, this is most definitely something to take the kids to see.

Lilo & Stitch follows most of the story from the original 2002 animated movie. Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl, and when an alien creature comes to Earth and is in need of help, she forms a connection to it. Stitch is a bit of a mischievous creature, but he also has a way to help mend fractures, and that leads to him helping to mend Lilo’s fractured family.

Lilo & Stitch age rating: Explaining the PG rating

Like the majority of Disney live-action movies, Lilo & Stitch is officially rated PG, and it does earn that rating. This means that it’s suitable for those eight and over without many issues. When it comes to slightly younger audiences, there may be some scary moments, but with a parent there, most kids will focus on the fun that Stitch gets up to.

Sex & nudity: This is your classic Disney movie, so there is no sex or nudity throughout. Due to it being focused on a child main character, there are no innuendos thrown in, either.

Violence and gore: There are some comedic violent moments, but nothing that is going to be too scary for children. Stitch gets up to a lot, and while I don’t want to spoil the antics, you can probably get a great idea based on the animated movie.

There is a point where a character is pushed off a stage, but this could be viewed as justice by some. There are also scenes where people are kicked in the head or where mouth spray is sprayed into the eyes. This is more for comedic timing, as the incidents are purely accidental, but it could set the wrong impression for your younger children.

Language: There is no strong profanity used throughout the movie. Lilo & Stitch does include words like “God damn” and “hell,” but those are the worst of the words. The swearing is used sparingly, and it’s become pretty standard for these live-action remakes now.

Alcohol & drugs: There is a scene where adults are drinking beverages in a resort. The name of the drink isn’t mentioned, but it’s assumed to be some sort of Hawaiian cocktail. This is easy to explain to your children if you worry about what they’re watching.

Overall verdict: Who is Lilo & Stitch appropriate for?

This movie is perfect for children of all ages. It’s a lot of fun, and Stitch is sure to keep even the youngest members of the family entertained.

If you are concerned at all, you’ll want to check out the animated movie once more. The live-action is a great reboot of this, featuring many similar types of fight scenes and accidental moments, especially with Sitch getting up to mischief.
