It’s time for the series that we have all been waiting for. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is here, and of course, we’re tuning straight into it.

This is a sequel to Wizards of Waverly Place, which saw Selena Gomez find fame. Now our favorite Russo siblings are all grown up, and not all of them have chosen a path of wizardry. Justin has embraced mortality.

Now if only he could stick with the world of normal and humanity. Instead, he’s pulled back into witchcraft and wizardry when Alex introduces him to Billie, a wizard-in-training. Alex needs Justin’s help to train Billie, and he can’t really say no when it comes to Alex, right?

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is perfect for the children in the house

This series, just like the original, is rated PG. It is suitable for the majority of children in the house. The only children I’d suggest it may not be suitable for is the toddlers, and that’s mainly because it isn’t animated.

Sex & nudity: This is a Disney show that is aimed at children. There is absolutely no sex or nudity throughout. There may be a couple of innuendos here and there as there were with the original one, but those statements always go over the kids’ heads.

Language: Don’t expect any harsh language in this series. The first episodes are out, and they have nothing.

Violence & gore: There isn’t any gore in the series so far, and we’re not expecting any more in the rest of it. There may be a tiny bit of violence as Billie gets used to her powers. It’s usually something like accidentally throwing a person to the other side of the room. This is done for storytelling and to give children lessons about practice, control, and focus. Think of what you saw in Wizards of Waverly Place, and you’ll get an idea of what to expect.

Alcohol & drugs: Again, it’s a Disney channel series. While we are in the mortal world, this series is written for children. Just watch out for potions and some of the ingredients used there.

Overall verdict: Who is Wizards Beyond Waverly Place appropriate for?

This is a show to watch with your kids. It’s fairly rated PG, which means Parental Guidance. If you’re worried about some of the younger kids in the house, put on the first couple of episodes to see what to expect.

This is something I would be more than comfortable letting my eight-year-old watch. It’s a bit of fun and there are a fair few lessons to learn. It may not work for toddlers, but that’s because they need shorter shows that are more animated. It’s nothing to do with the content itself.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is available on Disney+ with new episodes coming on Tuesdays.
