The new season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is here, continuing the story of the MomTok phenomenon. Of course, if you're hooked on the drama and the intrigue, you'll want to check out the episodes on Hulu right away. So, is this series suitable for the kids, or will you need to wait for them to go to bed?

This is a reality series-style program, similar to the likes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and The Real Housewives franchise. There are elements of the series that teach us a little about the Mormon way of life, but there are a lot of moments that show the women breaking away from the values of the church and doing the unexpected.

This isn't particularly aimed toward children, but you may have teens that you watch the Real Housewives shows with. So, is this one to add to the list?

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives age rating: Explaining the TV-MA rating

The official age rating for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is TV-MA, and there are some big reasons for that. The language is one of them, and while there isn't any sex shown on the screen, it is mentioned a lot. Again, this isn't made for children in mind, and it shows more of an unadulterated look at the Mormon wives who have taken to MomTok to show their experiences and lives.

Sex & nudity: While there isn't any sex shown, there is a lot of talk about it. The women routinely talk about oral sex, what they get up to with their husbands, and show a vibrator. These women have hooked up with each other's partners — consensually — and that is often brought up throughout the series.

There is one moment in the first season when a woman pulls down her pants to show her friends her post-surgical results. This is completely blurred out for privacy's sake, but it's very clear what is going on in this moment.

In a way, the conversations are healthy and normal for 20-something-year-olds. It can just be a little daunting at times, and the women are somewhat superficial, which can make some of the conversations appear a little crass at times.

Violence & gore: There are some scenes that show what some people have considered verbal abuse. However, when it comes to violence and gore, this is on the mild side.

Language: The F-bomb is dropped multiple times throughout the two seasons of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Other profanity is also used, including the S-word and the B-word. I haven't heard a mention of the C-word at all.

Alcohol & drugs: Despite being Mormon, there is a lot of drinking that happens. The women go to Las Vegas during one episode of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 1, where we see them partying together.

Overall verdict: Who is The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives appropriate for?

One of the cast members may have a drug problem, and that is brought up numerous times throughout the series. It's not done in a healthy way, either, to help get this cast member the help needed.

This is not a series made for children, and most of them aren't even going to want to watch it. However, if you have teens who watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians with you, then you may find that The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is something to watch with them.

I wouldn't watch this with any child under 15, though. There are some heavy and crass topics, and these women are not the best role models for any youngsters. It makes for some crazy TV, though!

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is available to stream on Hulu.
