When four kids make a mysterious discovery on their own planet, the mysteries only get deeper. Skeleton Crew is the latest Star Wars series on Disney+, and it’s a must-watch.
There have been a lot of hits and misses when it comes to Star Wars shows. It’s difficult to find something that draws in fans of the original trilogy and the new style of filming and storytelling. Well, Skeleton Crew seems to have done it.
The series follows a group of kids who find a ship on their home planet. As they end up in the middle of the galaxy, they learn far more about their planet than they ever thought possible. They also need to figure out how to survive a dangerous galaxy intent on killing them.
Skeleton Crew is rating TV-PG making it perfect for kids
This is a series that is designed for the whole family. It’s something that is drawing fans of the original trilogy and non-OG fans together, bringing perfect Easter eggs, but also bringing a fresh and exciting storyline.
Let’s take a look at what makes the show a success for the whole family.
Sex & nudity: There is no sex or nudity throughout the series so far. We probably won’t see any of it considering the TV-PG rating.
Violence & gore: This is where some of the scenes may not be suitable for the youngest fans in the house. They can end up getting a little dark, but they don’t get gory or too scary. If your kids have enjoyed other Star Wars shows, especially the likes of The Acolyte, they’ll be fine with the level of gore in this one.
Language: You won’t hear any S-words or F-bombs thrown into this show. The worst is “damn” and “hell,” words that a lot of kids are now used to hearing on TV or out in the real world. There’s not a lot of swearing throughout, though. There’s no need for it in this series.
Alcohol & drugs: So far, there hasn’t been any drinking or drugs in the series. There are times when the show is set in a bar, which can lead to some drinking, but these are alien planets. The drinking doesn’t look anything like what kids are used to seeing in TV shows.
Overall verdict: Who is Skeleton Crew appropriate for?
So far, this series is definitely suitable for kids of all ages. It’s aimed at the family, and I can’t see that changing as the series moves into later scenes.
The only thing that may change is the level of violence. This can be intense at times, and it is more on a psychological level rather than a gory level. If you have children who get uneasy with fight scenes, they’re probably not interested in the Star Wars franchise anyway!
