Shoresy- the Canadian dramedy highlighting The Sudbury Bulldogs, a competitive hockey team, and their life off the rink- dropped season 4 on Hulu on February 26. It's very popular in its home country and here in the States, as Shoresy doesn't only explore the players' lives but also focuses the lens on prolific women in the sports industry.
Speaking of which, one of my favorite people, Tasya Teles from The 100, portrays Nat, the Bulldogs' owner and manager, with a fierce attitude to get her team in order. She's often butting heads with Shoresy, the team's captain and the one that the show's named after.
As a sports comedy, Shoresy is entertaining with its plot lines, characters, and Canadian landscapes. And while it might be a great family choice to watch with your kids, especially if they're into hockey, Shoresy carries the TV-MA rating. This guide is for all seasons streaming on Hulu.
Explaining the TV-MA rating of Shoresy
Shoresy has the TV-MA rating for a reason and it's mostly due to the intense profanity. You're additionally going to bear witness to sports-related violence and some innuendo that might be uncomfortable for some viewers.
Sex & Nudity: There's not much sex onscreen, but the Bulldogs team does make plenty of sexual references and innuendo jokes. For the onscreen sexual material, a couple is in bed. In an earlier season, there will be partial male nudity, and that's something to look out for when watching.
In season 4, the dance club culture is highlighted, with the typical raunchy club behaviors intact. Intense make-out sessions will occur during these scenes.
Violence: Shoresy is a sports comedy that depicts ice hockey on and off the rink. Expect to see game-related brawls and action. Punches are thrown, competitive aggression can be volatile, and the players get into the rugged spirit of the game.
Language: This is the core reason why Shoresy received its TV-MA rating. The F-bombs and the S-word are dropped nearly every second, along with your more general profanity. It's not the most pleasant conversation to expose young audiences to.
Drinking and Drugs: Lots of beer drinking, smoking, and some drug references in each season.
Overall verdict: What age is Shoresy appropriate for?
Above is the Shoresy season 4 trailer, and while it's not great for kids, it's a great comedy for adults.
Given its strong profane nature and innuendo material, the safe age to watch Shoresy is 16-18 years old. It's not designed for the peewee hockey teams, so if you plan on watching this comedy, keep your kids away from the rinks.
