For those who can remember the hit Disney Channel series, Wizards of Waverly Place, you may be wondering if there are any developments on the news of a sequel series. Today is your lucky day because the upcoming series Wizards is expected to hit the network in late 2024.

Wizards of Waverly Place premiered on Oct. 12, 2007 with the series finally airing on Jan. 6, 2012. The show explored themes of family traditions, problem solving, navigating relationships, and understanding teen-centric everyday situations from a fantasy perspective. The first series is centered on Alex Russo, played by Selena Gomez, the middle child of a subway shop owner on Waverly Place in the Greenwich Village section of New York City. She, alongside her siblings Justin and Max, are dealing with being both normal teenagers and wizards-in-training.

This new series, Wizards will reunite the lead cast members of Wizards of Waverly Place, Selena Gomez and David Henrie and will be written and executive produced by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas.

The upcoming show's premise will follow Justin Russo as an adult who is leading a normal mortal life with his family, Giada, and children Roman, and Milo. When Alex brings Billie to his home seeking help, Justin realizes that he'll have to reignite his magic skills in order to mentor the 'wizard-in-training' while also juggling his responsibilities as a family man.

The cast also includes Max Matenko (Platonic), Janice LeAnn Brown (Just Roll with It), Alkaio Thiele (Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends) as Justin’s oldest son, Roman; and Mimi Gianopulos (Rutherford Falls) as Justin’s wife, Giada.

As previously mentioned, a 2024 premiere date is tentatively scheduled for both the linear channel Disney Channel and streaming service Disney+. Gomez is set to serve as a guest star in the series. She currently stars in the Hulu original series Only Murders in the Building, which is shooting its fourth season.
