What’s New On Prime Video For Kids And Family: July, 2024

The Black Stallion, Hotel Transylvania and other classics hit the service.

As usual for Prime Video, a lot of the new content coming up this month is for adults. You’ve got a PG-13 Emma Roberts movie (Space Cadet), Challengers is debuting though only for MGM+ subscribers, and of course there’s the finale of The Boys Season 4, which is not for kids. Not even remotely.

That said, there are still a few legacy movies for kids being added that we can highlight. Of note, Amazon’s Freevee, which is a service with ads that is somehow different from Prime Video, which also has ads, is running a couple of classic animated flicks. You don’t have to search for them in Freevee, though, they’ll sit right alongside everything else on Prime.

But highlights! Let’s get to ‘em. Hotel Transylvania 2 hits on July 1, followed by HT3: Summer Vacation on July 24, so you can make it a Hotel Transylvania marathon if you really want to. Can’t think of anything I’d want to do more in the depths of the summer than watch some fun monster flicks. I guess?

If you’re into classics, two of the original Black Stallion films are also hitting the service. If you’ve got a Horse Girl or Horse Boy in your life, these are an absolute must, so be sure to put ‘em on and feel the wind through your mane.

The 2014 version of Annie is also hitting the service, so you can check out Cameron Diaz’s wild turn as Miss Hannigan – and Quvenzhané Wallis as Annie, of course. There’s also the iconic Muppets Take Manhattan, which I have watched a million times and will watch a million more. And if you want to watch some iffier, not quite as classic movies, there’s M. Night Shyamalan’s much-maligned The Last Airbender, as well as The Spiderwick Chronicles, which recently got a TV remake that people also didn’t like. We’ll get that Spiderwick right on the third try, I’m sure of it!
