The Marvels parent guide: Is the movie suitable for kids?
Things never work out the way they should. That’s certainly the case for Captain Marvel in The Marvels. She manages to get her revenge against the Super Intelligence, but that leads to some unintended consequences.
Now she’ll have to team up with Ms. Marvel and others to protect the Earth. These superheroes cannot let the world suffer because of some unintended consequences.
Of course, this is a movie that the kids are sure to want to see right away. Is it something to take them to the theaters to watch, or will you need to wait for it to come to DVD?
The Marvels age rating
The official age rating is set as PG-13, which matches other Marvel movies. This is great news if you want to take your children to see it.
The PG-13 rating suggests that it’s okay for 13 and over. However, under 13 is with parental guidance. The truth is, if your children have loved previous Marvel movies, especially Captain Marvel, then this movie will be fine for them to sit through.
The rating itself is mostly given for the violence and action in the movie. It’s your standard violence for a Marvel movie, so don’t worry about too much gore. This is not The Boys! Nick Fury does tend to spit out a few minor swear words, but the movie completely avoids F bombs and other words at a similar standard. You’ve seen Nick Fury in other movies, so you should know what to expect.
The Marvels itself is sure to be a great movie to show equity in the superhero franchise. This isn’t just one female lead but multiple. We’ll get to see Ms. Marvel back on the big screen, and we’ll see Carol Danvers team up with her niece, Monica Rambeau. Three women taking on the world is an excellent sight for the new generation.
The Marvels is now out in theaters.
