The Back to the Future movies are back on Netflix, and they're the perfect fun for the family
It’s time to go back to where your love for sci-fi and time travel came from. The Back to the Future movies are back on Netflix.
All three movies are back on the streaming platform as of today, Monday, July 1. Spend the next few nights watching each one in order with the whole family. After all, these were made for almost all ages. There’s plenty of fun, as well as a lot of lessons why time isn’t something to be messed with.
Watch Back to the Future with the kids for nostalgia
You want to be able to share movies with the kids that you loved when you were their age. The Back to the Future movies are the best way to do that. You get to see their glee as they watch Marty McFly go back to 1955 and have to find a way not to create the Butterfly Effect. You’ll get to watch as they worry about how Marty will fix problems formed thanks to Biff, and you’ll get to see how they react when everyone ends up in the Wild West.
We often wish that we could go back to experiencing something for the first time again. This is the closest we get to that as parents.
Lots of entertainment and hilarity for the kids
The kids aren’t there for the nostalgia. They want something entertaining or something that takes them on an adventure, and all three Back to the Future movies have both. The first movie brings them the life of a teenager in the 1980s, while the second one gives a great laugh at how people in the 1980s thought the 2010s would look. Where are the hoverboards?
This is one of those franchises that has a mixture of everything. There’s the comedy, the drama, the action, the romance, and the sci-fi. We have a boy from the 1980s trying to fit into multiple different time periods. Your kids may be at an age where they think life in the past was easier, or where they think time traveling to the future could be fun. Let them watch the Back to the Future movies and see what they think then.
There are some themes that you’ll need to discuss with the kids. They’re outdated, but that’s to be expected. They’re actually very good teaching moments, and I encourage all parents to look out for these when watching something for the nostalgia.
The Back to the Future movies have something for all interests. Spend the week watching all three of them with your kids for some quality time. Just make sure you’re ready to buy the Playmobil or LEGO versions of the DeLorean when they’ve finished—yes, I speak from experience!
