Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem parent guide: Understanding the TMNT age rating
When it comes to kids' shows and movies, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remain a firm favorite. So, it’s not surprising that kids want to check out the latest movie in the franchise.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem brings us the teenagers back. Doesn’t it feel like some of the turtles are a little too old for what they were supposed to be? We get the phrases and the attitudes that many of us grew up watching.
You can get the movie on DVD and Blu-ray right now. There is some excellent bonus content to check out, but you need to know who this movie is suitable for. The official age rating is PG, and here’s a breakdown of why that is.
Why is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem rated PG?
The rating is great news for the kids in the house. This is suitable for them. With a PG-rated movie, it usually means that those eight and up are going to easily sit through it and enjoy it. Younger ages may not like as much of it and there may be some scary elements, but you know your kids the best.
The rating is due to some of the violence throughout the movie. This is a TMNT movie. We all know that the four turtles use martial arts to save the day. They protect New York City from the villains, and they will use all means necessary to do so.
There is also some language. You won’t hear any F-bombs or even the S-word. The language is mild like “hell” and “damn.” Honestly, if you’re used to watching the cartoon with your kids, you’re used to the type of language used.
There is also some “impolite material,” as IMDb puts it. Look, they’re teenagers. Some of the humor is crude. Again, you’ve seen it on the TV show, right? You know what to expect from comic strip material. It’s nothing that your kids haven’t already seen if they love Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo, and Raphael.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is available on Amazon Instant Video and wherever you get your digital releases.
