American Fiction
Written and directed by Cord Jefferson, American Fiction stars Jeffrey Wright as an author who publishes a book under a pen name out of frustration, only for things to spiral out of control.
What age is it appropriate for? The movie is Rated R for “language throughout, some drug use, sexual references and brief violence.” Like The Holdovers there’s a fair amount of language, and some drug use, but you shouldn’t turn older teens away from the complicated and fascinating material, which delves heavily into racial politics.
Where to stream: American Fiction is not available to stream free, but you can purchase it on most major platforms, or see it in theaters.
