Which Oscar-nominated movies are appropriate for children, and where to stream them in 2024
Killers of the Flower Moon
Martin Scorsese directs an all-star cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert DeNiro, and odds-on favorite to win Best Actress Lily Gladstone in the true story of a series of murders that happened in the Osage Nation.
What age is it appropriate for? You can read our Killers of the Flower Moon parents guide for more, but it’s rated R for violence, some grisly images, and language. But probably the bigger barrier beyond the blunt killings and stark subject matter is the nearly three-and-a-half-hour runtime, which could send some kids fidgeting into space. That said, teens will find a lot of mostly unspoken history to dig into here, and it’s considered one of Scorsese’s best works, which is saying something. It’s rated R, but worth watching with the older kids in your family.
