What’s New On Max For Kids And Family: May, 2024

It’s slim pickings for kids and family on Max (formerly HBO Max) in May 2024. While prestige show Hacks debuts its third season, Pretty Little Liars returns for Summer School, and John Green’s Turtles All The Way Down will surely tempt the teens, when it comes to all-ages fare there’s not a lot to go on.

But there still are some shows on this abbreviated list. Perhaps most interesting to me, as a child who was raised watching old comedies, is the addition of the 1952 Jack and the Beanstalk, aka the one starring Abbott and Costello. If your kids have never watched the iconic duo, it’s possible they might be bored to tears by the different pace (there are barely any explosions), but equally possible they might be inspired to search out other classic flicks. You just never know!

Meanwhile, two Cartoon Network shows are hitting the service, Batwheels Season 2B, which focuses on Batman’s car; and Teen Titans Go! Season 8, the surreal superhero team-up that just keeps truckin’ along.

And finally, a new version of Stupid Pet Tricks premieres – and while we haven’t seen it, our guess is that it’ll be family friendly enough. Apologies in advance if the pets’ stupid tricks turn out to be “cursing like sailors.
