New kids and family movies to stream for April 2024: Migration, Wish, and more

There are plenty of new movies to stream for the whole family this month.

They say April showers bring May flowers. But they also bring plenty of opportunities to huddle up inside the house with the whole family, pop some popcorn, and cuddle up with a good movie on streaming. The old “huddle/cuddle,” as nobody calls it.

With that in mind, there are plenty of options for flicks to stream for April 2024, from some new animated favorites, to some potential future ones, and plenty of older films to keep the whole family entertained. At least until the fifth or sixth time through.

Here are all the new kids and family movies to stream for April, 2024 including lists for Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, and Max.

Wish

Starring the voices of Ariana Debose and Chris Pine, the animated feature pays tribute to 100 years of Disney storytelling with a flick packed to the gills with Easter eggs and tributes to movies past. The story? It’s about a girl who teams up with a wishing star (you know, “when you wish upon a star,” etc etc) to take down an evil King who wants to own everyone’s wishes.

Premiere Date: April 3, 2024

Woody Woodpecker Goes To Camp

A combo of live-action and animation, this is actually a sequel to the 2017 Woody Woodpecker feature film you probably forgot existed (well, I certainly did). You can probably figure this out, but the titular woodpecker goes to camp, and tries to help the kids keep it open when an inspector threatens to shut it down.

Premiere Date: April 17, 2024

Written by School of Rock and The White Lotus (really) scribe Mike White, the ducks traveling south movie was a surprise hit in theaters, and now comes to “free” streaming. Featuring the voices of Kumail Nanjiani, Awkwafina, and more, it follows a squad that leaves New England for Jamaica, only to end up in New York City. Whoops!
