New kids and family movies to stream for July, 2024: Descendants: The Rise of Red, The Imaginary, and more

It’s one of the hottest months of the year, which means that in addition to pool time and park time, you’re going to want plenty of “please let me stay in the air conditioning inside” time. Good news, we’ve got you covered with our list of new (and old) movies coming to the major streaming services.

The big one is Descendants: The Rise of Red, which brings back the iconic Disney musical movie series with a new generation of V Kids (that would be villain kids) on the rise. Plus, there are plenty of returning stars, a time travel plot, and of course, singing and dancing.

Netflix, meanwhile, has The Imaginary, the latest movie about imaginary friends – though this animated film is more in the mode of a Miyazaki flick than John Krasinki’s IF.

As for the other services, there are plenty of classics dropping, as well as a slew of Christmas movies on Peacock.
