Now, here’s some shocking news to kick off your Tuesday: Arcane, the hit and critically animated series based on League of Legends, is ending with Season 2. The news was confirmed via a press release from Netflix provided to The Parent Watch. But don’t worry, there are more animated shows to come.

Arcane is just the beginning of our larger storytelling journey and partnership with the wonderful animation studio that is Fortiche," said show co-creator Christian Linke during a League Dev Update that went live earlier today. "From the very beginning, since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind, which means the story of Arcane wraps up with this second season. But Arcane is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra.”

While it’s great and all that there are more shows coming, it’s a bit of a head-scratcher to end a series that has garnered critical acclaim and actually grew in viewership numbers of the weeks it was released by Netflix. And certainly, one can respect that they’re ending the story on their own terms. But also I would like it to go on forever? Thanks.

If you’re not familiar with the series, Arcane focuses on the conflict between the elite city of Piltover, and the rundown city of Zaun that it’s built on top of, literally. On one side of the conflict? Vi (Hailee Steinfeld). The other? Her sister, Jinx (Ella Purnell). So you got your action, you got your family drama, and you have your jaw-dropping, stunning animation.

While the show does skew a little bit older, it’s excellent for teens wanting some incredible animated action, deeply emotional storytelling, and works whether you’re into the game it’s based on, or not.

The Emmy Award winning series will return to Netflix for the final season this November, at an exact date TBA. Watch a new trailer, below:
