Kung Fu Panda 4 is still in theaters, but now you can bring all the panda fights home for your kids, as it’s available for purchase or rental on all major digital platforms. Not only that, but there’s a brand-new animated short for your kids to enjoy as well.

Featuring Jack Black in his iconic role as Po, Kung Fu Panda 4 has been a huge box office hit, and one of the few family movies currently in theaters. Sorry, The First Omen, I know you’re technically a movie about families, but you’re definitely not for families.

Per a press release provided to The Parent Watch, here’s the synopsis for the flick:

“After learning he must find a new hero to take over as Dragon Warrior so that he may fulfill his destiny as the next spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace, Po decides to take one last adventurous mission. He teams up with a quick-witted thief named Zhen, voiced by Awkwafina, a corsac fox, to discover the truth about recent sightings of villains he’s defeated in the past. In a journey that puts both to the test, it will take a wicked, powerful sorceress, The Chameleon, voiced by Oscar winner Viola Davis, to bring them together and remind Po that heroes can be found in the most unexpected places.”

That’s cool and all, but after getting dragged to cinemas umpteen times to see Kung Fu Panda 4, you might be wondering what’s new with the digital release. In fact, there is a new short attached, titled “Dueling Dumplings.” Featuring Jack Black and Awkwafina reprising their roles from the movie, it focuses on a battle between Po and Zhen to determine whose dumplings “reign supreme.” Hopefully, there are lots of Iron Chef jokes in there, too, otherwise what are we doing here, folks?

When Will Kung Fu Panda 4 Be Streaming Free Online?

While the movie isn’t available to stream free on services like Disney+ and Max, it should head to the NBCUniversal owned service Peacock eventually. Most releases make their way there about 120 days after the theatrical release. That means it should hit Peacock some time around July 6, 2024 for “free.” However, until then, either in theaters or for rental/purchase is the only way to watch Kung Fu Panda 4.

You can check Kung Fu Panda 4 out now, though the “Dueling Dumplings” short is only available with purchase from Apple, Fandango at Home (formerly Vudu), Comcast Xfinity, Cox, and Verizon.
