The Disney/Pixar summer smash, Inside Out 2, will be available for digital purchase beginning August 20th. Platforms such as Amazon and Xfinity have a rental price of $24.99 for the film, and for $4 more, you can own it. Along with the purchase, extras will be included, like deleted scenes and meeting the cast, who voice Joy, Anxiety, Envy, Sadness, and the other emotional characters.
For backup, Inside Out 2 centers around Riley's journey into adolescence and introduces us to five new emotions: Embarrassment, Ennui, Envy, and Nostalgia. These emotions join the original five to create the "best version" of Riley. Naturally, many problems develop, and it's up to Joy to calm down the overwhelming turbulence when Anxiety takes over.
Inside Out 2 is the sequel to 2015's Inside Out, in which we had the privilege of meeting Riley and her "rainbow" of emotions as they tackled relocating from Minnesota to California and coping with other childhood changes.
The second film grossed over $150 million during its opening weekend back in June, a record-breaker since Disney was eying a $90 million result.
Now, you have a chance to relive Inside Out 2 and watch the bonus features on digital.
Inside Out 2 goes digital with added content
Starting on August 10th, Inside Out 2 will be available on digital. With the purchase, you will receive deleted footage and special features. We cannot get enough of that Disney movie magic, so getting our eyes on the extras is a real treat.
Entertainment Weekly was lucky to report an exclusive featurette that'll be part of the digital and DVD packages. Called Spiral of Shame, the clip takes us into the popular teenage game Never Have I Ever, where Riley plays it with her cool new friends. We also meet an emotion that has been cut from the final production. She's Shame, and she represents the guilt within us.
According to director Kelsey Mann, the original vision was to have Anxiety and Shame work together in the eye of the Shame storm. However, having the two strong emotions battle it out made the narrative overwhelming, so Shame had to be cut and Anxiety became the core 'focus.'
"I wanted to explore that feeling that you're not good enough, that feeling that you're really hard on yourself. It really comes out in this scene. This was a scene that's near the end of the film. It's the climax. In this version, you'll see Anxiety and Shame together. They're kind of a pair in this one. And we got drawn into this idea of Riley's shame getting out of control, causing a storm. There is an element here that is still in the final film, but rather than a shame spiral, we ended up making it really about Anxiety. It just simplified the film and put the focus on one character — the character of Anxiety, versus having this split focus between Anxiety and Shame."

The Storm did eventually made it to the final film, but it occurs under a different situation and brought the glory of Inside Out 2 together.
If you also enjoy the hard copy that is Blu-Ray and DVD, that will be available on September 10th.
