Freeform drops 31 Nights of Halloween lineup: Hocus Pocus, Ghostbusters, and more!

Prepare to celebrate the spooky holiday and season with the annual Freeform's 31 Nights of Halloween event. Beginning October 1st, you and your family will be treated with many "scary" stories leading to All Hallows Eve. With classics such as Hocus Pocus, Ghostbusters, Edward Scissorhands, and Little Shop Of Horrors and premieresThere'll be many choices to delight the family with.

To make the event feel more like a party, be sure to stock up on snacks, as no movie is complete without snacks and sweets. You might have your kids (and yourself) costume as your favorite character from any of the 31 Nights programming, or enjoy making a themed craft while watching one of the movies as it creates a fun interaction between the child and the production.

From witches to ghouls to ghosts, and of course, black cats and pumpkins, here's the bagful of goodies from Freeform's 31 Nights of Halloween.

The trailer has many peeks from this year's initiation. Hocus Pocus 2, the sequel to 1993's Hocus Pocus, will debut on television during 31 Nights. The film premiered on Disney+ last year and was met with critical acclaim. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy return to their famous roles as the Sanderson sisters, a trio of witches from Salem in 1693.

Bing Crosby and Basil Rathbone narrate no one, but two classic tales of Halloween lore in the Disney 1949 animation, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. For you literary fans, Ichabod is based on Washington Irving's 1820 short story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Mr. Toad is based off Kenneth Grahame's 1908 children's story The Wind in the Willows.

The Adventures of of Ichabod and Mr. Toad will be a 31 Nights premiere and rightfully so.

Hocus Pocus 2 is another premiere flying in the Freeform lineup. The sequel to 1993's Hocus Pocus, the Sanderson sisters are in Salem yet again thirty years later after the Black Candle has been reflamed. While it's not as exciting as its predecessor, Hocus Pocus 2 does offer a backstory of Winnifred, Mary, and Sarah.

Tim Burton's reimaging of Dumbo is a gorgeous take on the 1941 animated classic about the little elephant who defied the odds. Starring Colin Farrell, Danny DeVito, and Beetlejuice's Michael Keaton, Dumbo is set in 1919, following the 1918 influenza epidemic, and watched over by two children after Dumbo's mother is taken away and sold.

The live-action is considered one of Disney's best remakes, and you cannot go wrong with the special effects and Danny Elfman's composition of dark music, which truly brings Dumbo to life.

It's filled with trademark Muppet humor and catchy songs, and the film introduction of one of Gonzo's sidekicks, Pépe the Prawn.

Haunted Mansion is inspired by the DisneyLand ride of the same name. The famous ride which takes bloodchilling home tours was opened in 1969 and has locations around the globe. at Disney parks.

And finally, you can't have Halloween without Ghostbusters, as it's pretty much a mortal sin not to. In Ghostbusters Afterlife, Egon Spenglar's granddaughter Phoebe, who's very much like him, discovers the extraordinary history of the Ghostbusters. She, her brother (portrayed by Finn Wolfhard), their friends, plus Egon's spirit, who never stopped fighting ghosts after his death, bring peace back to Oklahoma after being haunted by the evil Gozer and his crew.

Afterlife is a warm tribute to the late Harold Ramis, the 1980s, and reunites the original Ghostbusters-Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and Dan Akroyd, reprising their iconic roles.
