There’s no doubt that the kids want to head to movie theaters right now. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is out. They want to see the sequel to the first Aquaman movie with Jason Momoa.

In fact, you want to go too. Momoa has completely changed the look of the DC hero, and for the better in many ways. You’ll want to see the sequel, which includes much of the same cast as the original movie.

In this one, Black Manta is back. After failing to defeat Aquaman the first time, he’s back with a new plan. What he doesn’t count on is Aquaman and his brother, Orm, actually working together this time. They are ready to put their pasts behind them and focus on protecting Atlantis.

Is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom suitable for kids?

Before you take the kids to the theaters, you’ll want to know if this is something for them to even watch. Not all superhero shows and movies are designed for the younger members of the family. Just look at The Boys!

Well, there is some good news. Aquaman 2 is officially rated PG-13. This means it’s suitable for those 13 and above without the need for parents. If they’re under 13, you’ll want to go with them and take a look at some of the themes within the story.

Really, if your kids enjoyed the first Aquaman movie, they’ll be good with this one. The same applies if they were okay with the Justice League movies. They’re all created within the same universe and many of the same thematic elements. There is violence and there is some language, but nothing gory like you’d see in the R-rated movies.

Some elements to the story may be a little scary to younger children. Those seven and up are probably going to enjoy the storylines and overlook some of the scarier moments. It’s a DC movie and we all know that the heroes end up saving the day in some way. You’ll know your children the best. My 11-year-old is perfect for these types of movies, but my seven-year-old cuddles in when there are some of the more violent parts of the story. She still enjoys them overall, but there are scenes that she wants to talk about afterward.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is now out in theaters.
