Apple TV+’s Time Bandits will steal your heart with the full new trailer
It’s time: Time Bandits, that is, as Apple TV+ has just dropped the full trailer for their TV adaptation of the classic, cult movie. And we finally have a better look at what will happen in the time-tripping comedy series, coming soon to the streaming service.
Created by Jemaine Clement, Taika Waititi, and Iain Morris, the show is based on the iconic, Terry Gilliam directed movie, with a whole new cast and way more runtime. It’s also, per the purview of this site, an all-ages adventure that focuses on an 11 year old kid named Kevin who loves history, and ends up living it.
Specifically, Kevin ends up teaming up with the Time Bandits of the title, a hapless group of thieves led by Lisa Kudrow, who travel through space and time stealing items while Kevin tries to save the lives of his parents… And possibly the world. Along the way, they end up at Stonehenge, or Troy in the Trojan Horse, in the Ice Age, during the Harlem Renaissance, and more.
As someone who watched the original, 1981 Time Bandits a whole lot as a kid, this trailer seems to indicate the show is the perfect fusion of Gilliam’s wild, Monty Python trained sensibilities; and Waititi and Clement fare like Flight of the Conchords and Our Flag Means Death. But, you know, for kids.
The show also stars Kal-El Tuck, Tadhg Murphy, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Rune Temte, Charlyne Yi, Rachel House, Kiera Thompson, James Dryden, Felicity Ward, Francesca Mills, and Imaan Hadchiti. It also features appearances by Clement and Waititi, among other guest stars.
The 10-episode series will premiere with two episodes on Wednesday, July 24, with two new episodes debuting every Wednesday on Apple TV+ until the finale on August 21. You can watch the full trailer above.
