Are you ready to jump into a new season of Leverage: Redemption? Before you do, you need to make sure the Prime Video is suitable for everyone in the room when you’re watching. Streaming platforms are notorious for their more graphic content.

Leverage: Redemption is a revival of the original series Leverage. The majority of the original cast returned, bringing us more stories of criminals being criminals for good reasons. They use their skills to fight back against corporate America, and seeing the hacking, the spy work, and plans come to life makes this series a lot of fun.

Leverage: Redemption age rating: Explaining the TV-14 rating

The Prime Video series is officially rated TV-14, which suggests that it is suitable for those age 14 and above. Is it good for teens, though? I’d say so, especially if they love the likes of NCIS and Hawaii Five-0. While it is a streaming series, it’s not created with "shock value" in mind, like other streaming originals. The focus is on the storylines and raising awareness of the villain that is corporate America.

Sex & nudity: Think of this as a broadcast series. There are some elements of sex mentioned, but it’s not graphically seen. Sometimes female characters will take their tops off to reveal their underwear, and there are scenes now and then with characters in bed together covered by sheets. I think we’re all used to this by now with network TV, as these characters are adults being adults.

There are times when themes of sexual harassment come up due to the nature of corporate America being the villain. Honestly, I think it’s something teens, especially teenage girls, need to be aware of, as being aware and working together is the only way to fight back and make some changes to the world. Discretion around this topic will obviously vary from home to home.

Violence & gore: There are a lot of fight scenes and gun shoot outs throughout the series, and there were plenty in the original series as well. This is on the level of the likes of NCIS, though, so there aren’t many gory hits. While there’s a little bit of blood splatter, I think some animated shows for kids are starting to show a lot more, especially anime!

Elliot is usually the one you’ll see in a fight. That’s his job in the team, and he loves it!

Language: As a TV-14 rated series, it shouldn’t surprise to you hear that there’s not much in the way of language. I like to liken this to the type of language you would hear in Supernatural or The Vampire Diaries. The B-word can be used, but usually in the phrasing “Son of a B.” The most common swear words are “damn,” “hell,” and similar wording.

Alcohol & drugs: There are many scenes in a bar, where we see our group of Robin Hood criminals drinking. This is where they hang out in-between cases, and yes, there is alcohol available to them. They don’t drink gratuitously, and there’s no drug use in here.

There are some storylines that involve Big Pharma. As you can guess, that means some pharmaceutical drugs. Every now and again, recreational drugs are mentioned.

Overall verdict: Who is Leverage: Redemption appropriate for?

I stand by Prime Video’s TV-14 age rating. If your teens love the likes of NCIS and similar crime shows, they will want to watch Leverage: Redemption, and it is suitable for them. In fact, this is sure to draw in the Angel crowd due to Christian Kane starring in the show, and he plays a very similar character in terms of enjoying the fight.

It’s some of the storylines that may not appeal to teens. After all, crime dramas aren’t for everyone, and some teens prefer comedies or fantasy shows. In terms of levels of violence and language, this is a great option for them, though, and it’s a great introduction into the world of crime dramas.

Leverage: Redemption is available to stream on Prime Video.
