Netflix has a new movie to check out if you’re an Adam Sandler fan. Happy Gilmore 2 is now available to stream, but is it one to watch with the kids around?
The latest release is a big one for Sandler fans. Gilmore is back to golfing after his retirement, but this time, it’s not for himself. He needs to fund his daughter’s dance lessons, and any parent of a dancer will know just how much that can end up being, especially if they dance competitively.
Of course, there are the usual highs and lows. The question now is who this movie is appropriate for, as you’ll want to watch it right away.

Happy Gilmore 2 age rating: Explaining the PG-13 rating
Just like the first movie, Happy Gilmore 2 is officially rated PG-13 in the United States. In most parts of the world, it has a similar rating, such as 12 in the UK and 13 in Argentina. However, in Australia and New Zealand, it’s been given an M rating.
Sex & nudity: There are two moments when Happy’s son moons him. This is childish humor, which is often seen in movies like this and even in TV shows like The Simpsons. In fact, rear nudity is pretty common throughout Happy Gilmore 2, much more than female nudity.
There is a scene when Happy thinks of his wife in lingerie, and we do have a scene of Happy on the toilet, although nothing is shown in graphic detail. Many moments are tactfully or gracefully done.
Violence & gore: If you know Sandler’s movies, you know that there is some violence, but it’s nothing too graphic. The fights are usually full of comedy at the same time, such as pulling a guy’s shirt over his head to hit him in an over-the-top way.
There are a couple of scenes that involve throwing people in tanks and ponds with other animals, including an alligator. This can be a little frightening for some younger viewers.
Language: There is one instance of the MF-word used, and then one instance of the F-bomb. However, most of the language is limited to the S-word, the D-word, and some B-words. The words “damn” and “hell” are popular, which is pretty standard for an Adam Sandler movie. I don’t think it’s anything worse than the first Happy Gilmore movie.
Alcohol & drugs: There’s no avoiding the fact that Happy is an alcoholic, and we do see him drinking a lot. There are also scenes with a man smoking, but Happy’s drinking is the worst of it. This can be both dangerous and educational for children, as there are scenes showing how Happy has alcohol hidden around his home, including alcohol in one of his golf clubs!
Overall verdict: Who is Happy Gilmore 2 appropriate for?
While this is a PG-13 movie, it’s not aimed at children. This is one of those that could work for some older teens, but it’s not for those younger than 13 or 14. However, I wouldn’t worry too much if you have children passing in and out while you have the movie on.
Adam Sandler movies are for a specific audience. If you found the first Happy Gilmore movie okay for your children, then go for it with this one. However, if any Sandler movie is too much for your youngsters, then you’ll find the same with this one, too.
Happy Gilmore 2 is now on Netflix.
