Can you believe we’re at the point where Cobra Kai is coming to an end? Cobra Kai season 6, part 2 is the final set of episodes for the series. There is a wrap-up movie coming in 2025, but the series as a whole is done.
You’ll want to dive into the new episodes. The question is whether they’re suitable for the kids. This may have put you off watching the series this whole time. You know the Karate Kid movies are suitable, but that doesn’t mean the show will be, right?
Cobra Kai season 6, part 2 remains TV-14
The series has been a TV-14 series from the start. This means that it should be suitable for teenagers. Those younger than 14 may find some elements too scary, but you’ll need to factor in the maturity and personality of your own children.
We are breaking down the elements that make up an age rating based on Cobra Kai season 6, part 2. Don’t worry; there are no major spoilers!
Sex & nudity: This is not a series that involves a lot of hook-ups and on-screen nudity. There are mentions of relationships and things that go on in the bedroom, but nothing is shown on the screen. It can help to avoid embarrassing moments with the kids.
Violence & gore: This is where the series earns its TV-14 rating, and where some may think that this should be a TV-MA series. It is heavy in the violence. The show is all about karate, both the good and the bad of it. The focus is supposed to be on teaching the skills of karate for self-defense and mastering other skills through the discipline of the sport. Of course, some people use it as a way to start fights knowing that they’re likely to win.
We get to see everyone show off their skills throughout the episodes. After all, the Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai students are at the big international event. There are a lot of sections to the tournament to see who will make it to the finals.
We also get to see Daniel, Johnny, and even Chozen fight. They still have their skills, and there are still some faces from the past to come up throughout the episodes. This is what happens when you go searching for the skeletons in someone’s closet.
There is one scene where a dog bites a man. We don’t get the full gore of it, but it’s not hard to tell what’s going on here.
Language: There are many uses of the S-word throughout the episodes. There is one use of the F-bomb in the final episode, but that’s the worst of the words and it’s only the once. We do get a lot of “d**k” and “a-hole” throughout the episodes.
Alcohol & drugs: There are scenes where characters are drinking. The teenagers are in Barcelona, where the legal drinking age limit is lower than in the States. We see some of the characters taking advantage of that.
There isn’t any drug use, though. The alcohol use is mostly in terms of a party as the teens let their hair down on the evenings of the tournament.
Overall verdict: Who is Cobra Kai season 6, part 2 appropriate for?
If you’ve let your kids watch the Karate Kid movies, they’re more than likely to want to watch this series. I’d say the series has done a good job of being suitable for them. Yes, there are moments of heavy violence, but I think we should all expect that with a series that involves karate as its main focus.
It’s the violence that is going to affect a lot of younger viewers. There are some scarier moments, such as one character being locked in a cage next to dogs. However, there are a lot of great lessons about friendship, focus, and loyalty throughout that make Cobra Kai suitable for teens and some younger kids.
