An aspiring actress and a stuntman form a bond as they work together as spies in Citadel: Honey Bunny. What could possibly pull them apart?

The latest story in the Citadel franchise takes place in the 1990s and 2000s. It follows Honey and Bunny, a couple destined to become the parents of someone we already know. They are the parents of Nadia, played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the OG series.

Citadel and Citadel: Diana were both unsuitable for children. Does this series buck the trend?

Explaining the Citadel: Honey Bunny TV-MA age rating

This latest series is rated TV-MA in the United States. It’s worth noting that it’s a 16+ series in Canada, which suggests that it could be suitable for teens. Let’s break down what makes up the age rating to understand why it’s set the way it is.

Sex & nudity: There is some mild sex and nudity in the series, starting with the very first episode. There’s a scene where a man is in bed with a woman, clearly indicating that they have slept together. The man gets out of bed and we see him fully naked from the back. This is the most of the nudity, and there is nothing full-frontal.

Violence & gore: This is where the rating comes into play. Like the other two shows in the franchise, Citadel: Honey Bunny is packed with violence. Each episode has fight scenes, and there is a lot of blood shown from these scenes.

The violence intensifies until the ending moments. There is a huge shootout, and we see one of the main characters bleeding out. It’s not so intense that it becomes torture porn, though. This is more on the level of SEAL Team and other spy thrillers. To be honest, if you’ve seen the other two Citadel shows with your kids, they’ll be able to sit through this one.

Language: The language used in this series is on the milder side compared to the other two. There are very rare moments when swear words are used.

Alcohol & drugs: Like with the language, there is mild drinking in the series. More of the focus is on the action and the story.

Overall verdict: Who is Citadel: Honey Bunny appropriate for?

If you’ve watched the other two Citadel shows with your teens, you’ll be fine watching this one with them. The level of violence is around the same level.

I’d say the 16+ age rating is pretty good for the show. Some 13 to 16-year-olds could sit through it if they don’t mind high levels of violence. This is the only part that is going to make you, as a parent, worried. If you are concerned, watch the first episode. That has a high enough level of violence to see if it’s suitable for your children.
