After the success of A Simple Favor, it’s not surprising to see that there’s a sequel on Prime Video. Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively team up once more, with a story that takes us on another wild adventure. It's all about Another Simple Favor.

The sequel picks up years after the events of the first movie, with Stephanie Smothers now a published author but not quite where she wants to be in her career. When Emily Nelson returns and shares that she’s getting married, Stephanie is pulled into another murder mystery, and once again, she finds herself in some legal trouble.

Of course, you want to jump straight into the movie, and it’s available on Prime Video right now. The question is whether it’s something that you can watch with the kids around.

Another Simple Favor age rating: Explaining the R rating

The A Simple Favor sequel is officially rated R, which means that it’s aimed at those who are 18 and above. That matches the first movie, so it shouldn’t be too surprising.

However, this could work for older teens, especially if they were into the soapy crime thriller that was the first movie. After all, there are plenty of Kendrick and Lively fans out there. So, let’s break down the elements that make up the age rating to decide whether it’s something for the kids or not.

Sex & nudity: There is some mild nudity in the movie, with the most being a male’s rear end being on show with nothing on while he pleasures himself in the shower. That character does a turnaround, but there's a lot of steam and water to make it hard to see anything.

It’s the talk of sex that is going to make a few teens uncomfortable watching this. There are a few comments about incest, both involving brothers and sisters, and two sisters. Some of this is non-consensual, which will bring up a few important conversations.

Violence & gore: This is a murder mystery, and there are moments with some violence and gore. In one scene, a man is injected with something that leads to him bleeding out everywhere. There is also a later scene when a man shoots himself in the head, and while we don't see the shot, there is blood splatter all over the wall.

Language: This is certainly where the movie earns its R rating, as there are multiple mentions of the F-bomb throughout Another Simple Favor. The S-word and B-words are also used routinely, with the F-bomb being the worst of the words used.

Alcohol & drugs: Blake Lively is very much like Serena Van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl, enjoying her martinis at whatever time of the day it is. In fact, there’s even a comment while on a private jet that it’s only 10 a.m., and many are drinking, and one character is drunk in every scene that he is in.

Overall verdict: Who is Another Simple Favor appropriate for?

This is a movie that quickly earns its R rating, and it’s not made for the children in the house. While some older teens could enjoy the soapiness of the story, there are multiple conversations and moments that will likely make them uncomfortable.

It’s best to watch this without any of the kids around. However, if they made it through A Simple Favor, I’d say they could sit through this as there’s not much that changes too heavily.

Another Simple Favor is available to stream on Prime Video.
